HIS 135 - Introduction to African American History II 3 Semester Hour(s)
HIS 135 is a survey course that examines the history of peoples of African descent in the United States from Reconstruction to the present day. The course covers significant periods and events including Reconstruction, the Jim Crow Era, the Great Migration and its consequences, the Harlem Renaissance, the World Wars, discrimination and various forms of oppression, and the resistance and rebellion movements of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s to the present. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the modern historical experiences of African Americans. This course is offered once per year.
