PHY 111 - Analytical Methods in Physics & Engineering 3 Semester Hour(s)
Prerequisite(s): MAT 103 Corequisite(s): MAT 104 This one-semester course focuses on preparing students for the Physics course sequence. Topics covered are scientific notations and symbols, physical parameters/observables, their functional dependencies, their variations and concept of differentiation, forces and vectors, work and energy, concept of infinite summations, and the principle of integrations and other relevant analytical tools needed to study Physics like reference frames (Cartesian, Spherical Polar, and cylindrical coordinate systems) and their relevance in Physics & Engineering. Offered every fall. Three hours of lectures and problem solving per week.
