CAR 202 - Critical Theory in Art

Prerequisite(s): ENG 101, ENG 102, COM 101, COM 111, COM 112, & CAR 221.
This course is a contemplative study of describing, interpreting, evaluating, and theorizing about works of art for the purpose of increasing understanding and appreciation of art and its role in society. A question-centered approach will be used to investigate art, artists, audiences, and the assumptions about art and its role in society. Students will examine the nature, meaning, and value of art from an aesThetic point of view.
